After Apple Watch, standalone WhatsApp coming soon to Apple CarPlay platform

In late 2025, Meta launched the standalone WhatsApp for Apple Watches. With this, users will be able to get call notification screen phone calls right from the wrist.

Now, Mark Zuckerberg-owned entity has begun testing WhatsApp for CarPlay platform, reported WABetaInfo, citing the latest WhatsApp beta for the Apple automobile UI platform.

With native support on the CarPlay platform, car users will be able to glance at call notifications and messages without having to pick up the phone to screen them.

The texts and messages sent to WhatsApp will be directly visible on the CarPlay screen, or they can be read out loud, and most importantly, the user will be able to check the chat list and reply back when time permits.

It is the first tab of the app that lets users see their recent conversations, and it covers interactions from the past 20 to 25 days. It should be noted that it is not possible to open a specific conversation to read its chat history. It is done intentionally, so as to prevent the user from getting distracted while driving the car.

In a related development, WhatsApp has released new features for the iOS version. It brings the dual account options to iPhones.

With this, users can set up and operate two different accounts on the same iOS device.

This will allow users to ditch the secondary iPhone for work or personal use. Also, there are provisions to ensure there is no confusion for the user to know which account they're in because the profile picture will now be visible in the bottom tab. This way, they will be able to know which account they are using.
