Amazon opens new office in Bengaluru, company's 2nd biggest in Asia

The 12-storey complex will support over 7,000 employees across Amazon's ecommerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services in India.

US e-commerce giant Amazon on Monday (February 23) opened a new office in Bengaluru.

Touted to be Amazon's second-largest office in Asia, it measures more than 11 lakh squarefeet.

The 12-storey complex will support over 7,000 employees across ecommerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services in India.

The office complex is on five acre plot adjacent to Kempegowda International Airport near Kattigenahalli, Yelahanka (North Bengaluru).

Since setting foot in India, Amazon has invested over $40 billion, and now, it has announced to invest an additional $35 billion in India by 2030.

It should be noted that Amazon's biggest office in Asia is in Hyderadad. It was opened in 2019 in Nanakramguda. The massive campus, which spans 18 lakh sq ft, houses over 15,000 employees.

Amid H1-B visa curbs in the US, Bengaluru, the Silicon City of India, is attracting the world's biggest technology majors to expand their organisation.

Earlier this month, top generative Artificial Intelligence firm Anthropic opened its office in Bengaluru, the second such company unit in Asia after Japan. Search engine giant Google has reportedly leased a massive 24 lakh sq ft office in the Karnataka capital.

Even OpenAI has confirmed to open its office in Bengaluru later this year.
