Meta brings new AI-powered animation features to Facebook

Though Instagram is more popular compared to Facebook, the latter still commands millions of active users, particularly the Millennials (Generation Y).

To improve the user experience, Meta has launched new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered features that promise to make profile pictures, photos, Feed posts, and Stories more engaging and fun.

Facebook users can now turn a photo in to playful animated clip in seconds. Users get to choose from preset animations such as natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart to make a sombre-looking profile picture into a lively gif.

For best results, users are advised to use a photo that features a single person facing the camera with the face clearly visible, and not holding other objects.

The user can select photos to animate directly from the camera roll or choose photos that already uploaded to Facebook. Once a photo is animated, the user can share it to the news Feed and view it on the profile.

Facebook will be bringing more styles in the coming months.

New Restyle feature introduced in Facebook.

Meta has also introduced the Restyle feature that allows users to remix or add new elements to Stories and Memories features to make them more attractive and fun.

After uploading a photo to Stories or while viewing Memories, the user can tap Restyle. There, users can either use Meta AI to change things up how they want, or pick from Styles (like anime or illustrated), Moods (like glowy), Lighting (like ethereal), Colours (like cool or pink), and Backdrops (like beach or cityscape).

New feature introduced to make text posts look cool on Facebook wall.

To make the text-based post as cool as the short videos on Stories, Meta will offer a new option to add an animated backdrop to the Feed text posts, and make them more fun and expressive.

While typing a new text post in Feed, the user will see the new rainbow A icon. Tap on it to select from multiple still and animated backgrounds like falling leaves or ocean waves. Facebook plans to introduce seasonal backgrounds in the future so the posts can feel timely, festive, and a little more fun.
