Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje called upon youth to utilise the employment opportunities offered through the job fair organised by the district administration.

She spoke inaugurating the Udyog Mela organised by the district administration and Zilla Panchayat at Kota on Sunday. The MP said the youth of the district had got several opportunities. “They should come forward and avail of the benefits. A Government Tool Room and Training Centre will be opened at Uppur, which will help youth get training for various technical jobs. It will also ensure employment for the trainees,” said Karandlaje.

She added that the Pradhan Mantri Udyog Kaushalya Centre is opened in Manipal. Women should come forward to make use of the opportunities and become self-reliant.

She urged firms to undertake placements in the district. “Aspirants who fail to get jobs need not be disappointed as, with each failed attempt, there will be an experience to help in the future,” she reminded.

The public at the Udyog Mela, however, were furious when the MP mentioned the name of Zilla Panchayat member Raghavendra Kanchan, the accused in the double murder in Kota, in her inaugural address.

Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati stressed on the need for strong determination and hard work to reach goals. She said that the district should not remain merely an educational hub but get recognised as an employment opportunities hub in the future.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said that nearly 75 companies are taking part in the Udyog Mela and 3,500 job aspirants have registered. The jobs will be assured to 800 to 1,000 aspirants, he added.
