  • "Don’t panic in home isolation by rushing to hospital"

2021-04-21 Amid the increasing demand for Remdesivir injections across the country, Delhi AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria on April 21 advised countrymen to not consider Remdesivir as a magic bullet as it is required for only a small percentage of Covid patients. “It is important to understand that most of us who are either in home isolation or in the hospital don't actually need any specific treatment. Only a small percentage requires Remdesivir. Don't consider this as a magic bullet,” said Dr Guleria while addressing issues related to Covid-19 in the country. “By rushing to the hospital, you are creating more chaos and not helping yourself and you are actually denying a bed to fellow citizen who may need it but may not get it because of unnecessary hospitalisation of people who don’t need to be in the hospital,” Dr Guleria added.

Delhi govt looted our oxygen tanker, alleges Anil Vij

2021-04-21 Amid the worsening Covid-19 situation in the country, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij alleged that the Delhi government on April 20 looted an oxygen tanker belonging to the state, which was going towards Faridabad. “We are being forced to give our oxygen to Delhi. First, we’ll complete our needs and then we will give to others. Yesterday, one of our oxygen tankers was looted by Delhi Govt that was going to Faridabad. From now, I've ordered police protection for all tankers.”

'Vaccine prevents severity of disease, may not prevent infection'

2021-04-21 As the vaccination drive against Covid-19 is underway across the country, Delhi AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said, “The vaccine prevents you from getting the disease in the form of severe illness. It may not prevent you from getting the infection. Important to understand that even after the vaccine we may have a positive report, it is why it is important to wear a mask even after getting the vaccine.”
  • ‘It’s Govt's failure’: Priyanka Gandhi on 2nd Covid-19 wave

    ‘It’s Govt's failure’: Priyanka Gandhi on 2nd Covid-19 wave

2021-04-21 In an exclusive interview with ANI on April 21, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hit at Centre for not executing proper planning to fight with second wave of Covid-19 and called it “government’s failure.” She also said that the government had time to tackle the situation but they ignored it. She said, “India's production capacity for oxygen is one of the largest in world. Then why is there a shortage? You had 8-9 months (between first and second wave), your own Sero-surveys indicated that a second wave is imminent, you ignored it. You had time. Today, only 2,000 trucks in India can transport oxygen. How tragic it is that oxygen is available but it's not reaching where it should. 1.1 million Remdesivir injections were exported in last 6 months. Today, we're facing shortage.” She further said, “Government exported 6 crores vaccines between Jan-March. During this time 3-4 crores Indians were vaccinated. Why were Indians not prioritised? Vaccine shortage is due to bad planning, Remdesivir shortage due to no planning, oxygen shortage due to no strategy. It's Government's failure.”

Centre can speak to ISI, but not to Opposition: Priyanka Gandhi

2021-04-21 In an exclusive interview with ANI on April 21, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the Centre has time to speak to ISI but not to the opposition. "This government can speak to ISI. They're speaking to ISI in Dubai. Can't they talk to Opposition leaders? I don't think there's any Opposition leader who's not giving them constructive and positive suggestions." She further said, “Manmohan Singh ji was prime minister for 10 years. Everyone knows how dignified a person he is. If he's giving suggestions when nation is facing pandemic, then suggestions should be taken up with same dignity with which they were offered.”
