Can't predict next Covid surge but we can prevent it: WHO

WHO South-East Asia Regional Director Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh on May 30 said that it’s hard to predict the next Covid-19 surge but it can be prevented, which is a must.

Regional Director Khetrapal said, “The lesson learned from this surge is that at no cost can we let our guard down. We must take Covid-19 vaccine at first available opportunity. While we can't predict the next surge, but we can prevent it, which we must.”

“This surge has put an immense burden on already overwhelmed health services. We're now witnessing a plateau and even a decline in cases in some parts of India. Situation continues to be of concern and challenging,” she added.
