Centre decriminalises stubble burning by farmers

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on November 27 said that the states will take a decision on the cases registered during the protest as it comes under their jurisdiction. “Farmer organisations had demanded to decriminalise stubble burning by farmers. The government has accepted this demand as well. As far as cases are concerned, it comes under the jurisdiction of state governments and they will take a call. State governments will decide on the issue of compensation too, as per their state policy,” he added.
