Centre increases FRP for sugarcane to Rs 290 per quintal

Union Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal announced an increase in the FRP for sugarcane by Rs 5 per quintal. The minister said, “FRP for sugarcane has now been increased to Rs 290 per quintal. It will be based on 10% recovery. Even if a farmer has less than 9.5% recovery, their FRP will be Rs 275 per quintal...Using advanced technology, our farmers have improved recovery (in the country).” He also said, “Recovery is improving across the country. Sugar recovery from sugarcane is going up. Last year, export was also at a record high. About 70 lakh tonnes export contracts... (last year).”
