Earlier this week, the Turahalli forest in Bengaluru was in the news as the proposal to convert it into a tree park, set off alarm bells among conservationists and local residents. On the other hand, existing urban green spaces like neighbourhood parks limit access to the public for most part of the day.

Is there a way to balance the public's demand to open up parks and conservationists' plea to conserve urban forests and wildlife?
