'Girl, you're not...': Musk oozes sass as Trudeau slams US-Canada merger talks

Outgoing Canada PM Justin Trudeau was on the receiving end of sass from Elon Musk, the Tesla boss and head of the US Department of governmental efficiency under Donald Trump's presidency.

This came as Trudeau panned the Canada-US merger pitched by Trump. Musk, who has made several comments on other countries' politics, despite holding a governmental position, took the chance to make fun of Trudeau.

On X, Trudeau denied the possibility of a merger between the US and Canada, saying "There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner."

Musk, who owns X and is a Trump confidant, hit back saying "Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say," Musk has endorsed the idea of making Canada the 51st state of the US, in the past.

Trump, in recent times, had referred to Trudeau as the Governor of the 'great state of Canada' and said that it should become the 51st state of the US soon. When asked if Trump would use military force to this end, he replied in the negative, saying instead it would be 'economic force.'

"You get rid of the artificially drawn line and you take a look at what that looks like and it would also be much better national security. Don’t forget: We basically protect Canada," the President-elect had said at a presser.

Trudeau's post on X comes a day after he announced his decision to resign as Canada PM and as leader of the ruling Liberal Party. Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre also slammed talks of a merger saying "Canada will never be the 51st state. Period. We are a great and independent country."

Trump, mostly, has remained unfazed by any pushback and even posted an image of the American flag superimposed on Canada's map. Canadian leaders have also responded to Trump, with Ontario's Premier saying that Canada could, on the contrary, take Alaska, Minnesota and Minneapolis, CBS News reported.
