India is keeping a watch on the development of military infrastructure by Chinese People's Liberation Army in Tibet even as the two nations are trying to mend fences.
“We’re watching infrastructure developments (in China),” Indian Air Force chief B S Dhanoa said on Wednesday. He was replying to a query from a journalist on reports of construction of bunker at Gonggar Airport of Lhasa in Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
Some media reports suggested that the Chinese PLA was turning the airport into a military airbase.
“They (China) have been saying that airports are coming up for regional connectivity,” said the IAF chief.
Dhanoa also said that India too had a plan to counter the threat posed by the development of infrastructure by China.
