'Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif would have died': US President Donald Trump's big claim on India's Operation Sindoor

The claim comes only days after the US President had said that 11 'very expensive' jets were shot during the conflict between India and Pakistan

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday reiterated his claim of having intervened in the India-Pakistan conflict that took place in May last year.

In his State of the Union address, Trump claimed that he had stopped eight wars globally, adding that India and Pakistan could have gone nuclear.

In a stunning claim, Trump also said Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would have been killed if not for his intervention.

"In my first 10 months, I ended eight wars... Pakistan and India would have had a nuclear war. 35 million people said the Prime Minister of Pakistan would have died if it were not for my involvement," Trump said during the address.

The claim comes only days after the US President had said that 11 "very expensive" jets were shot during the war between India and Pakistan.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he played the peace broker between the two countries, something that India has firmly denied saying de-escalation was reached following DGMO level talks bilaterally.

Speaking at the Board of Peace last week, Trump had said that he threatened to impose 200 per cent tariff on both countries, adding that the two warring nations stopped military exchanges as there's "nothing like money".

He had further claimed that he had called India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he would not trade with New Delhi.

India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 7, 2025, in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 tourists in April.

Terror camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were attacked during Operation Sindoor, following which the two countries saw heightened military exchanges for a couple of days.
