Youth brutally assaulted

A youth who had come to visit the tourist spot Makkalagudi was brutally assaulted by a delinquent on Tuesday evening.

Rakesh Gowda (26) is the victim. He is a native of Hassan and has been working as the field officer of State Bank of India in Mysuru for the last several years.

Rakesh was assaulted on his face, head and hand. A local water-man Shivanna Babu, who noticed a man assaulting Rakesh, alerted the locals.

The delinquent who assaulted Rakesh fled the spot.

The police later arrested a delinquent from Kiraganduru, aged 17 years in connection with the assault and he has now been handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board in Madikeri.

The injured Rakesh was admitted to the district hospital and was later shifted to Mysuru for advanced treatment.

It has been revealed that the delinquent had proposed to a girl in his class while studying in PU college in Somwarpet in 2016.

The girl rejected the proposal and later complained to the college principal. But the minor was still bothering her. At some point, the girl said that she would ask Rakesh to teach him a lesson. This made the delinquent develop a rivalry against Rakesh.

On Wednesday, Rakesh stopped his motorbike near a hotel in which the delinquent was working at, to ask the way to Makkalagudi. All this has been captured in the CCTV camera. The delinquent followed Rakesh and suddenly assaulted the latter when Rakesh reached the viewpoint.
