A 15-year-old girl was raped for several months by her stepfather at her house in south-east Delhi, police said.
Lal Chand was arrested on Sunday after she informed police about the abuse.
Chand, a resident of Haryana, had married a woman some years ago. She had a young daughter. Three months ago, when he found her daughter alone at his house in Jaitpur, he raped her and threatened her of dire consequences if she complained to anybody.
The girl informed her mother. The woman, instead of telling the police, only scolded her husband. Police said she was afraid that her husband would leave her.
Chand continued to rape the girl repeatedly. Finally, the girl along with her mother approached the police on Sunday.
“Medical reports of the girl confirmed rape, following which Chand was arrested,” police said.
