The police said the teenager, who was weak in studies, was often scolded and beaten up by his mother for playing games on his cell phone for long hours and not paying attention to his studies.

On the night of December 4, the boy first hit his mother with a cricket bat while she was asleep and later used scissors and a pizza cutter to kill her.

He then killed his sister, who woke up after hearing the noise, apparently to hide his crime, the police said. The  teenager's father, who  is a businessman, was away on a business trip that day.

Sources said the boy, after  committing  the crime, took a cab to New Delhi railway station and from there boarded a train to Ludhiana.

From there he went to Mughalsarai in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district and later reached Varanasi.

The police said  called his father up from Varanasi from some other person's cell phone.

The  police traced his location and apprehended him from Dashashwamedh ghat on the banks of the river Ganga on Friday.

The police said  the teenager admitted to his crime. They also said that  he used to watch crime gangster games on his  cell phone.
