Union Minister Bharatsinh Solanki is trying his luck again and if elected it will be his third term as an MP from Anand. Solanki realises the importance of the legacy that he is carrying behind him. Son of former Gujarat CM and Union Minister Madhavsinh Solanki, Bharatsinh is aware of the difficulties. While on a campaign trail in his constituency, Solanki talks to Deccan Herald on certain issues.
Anand is comparatively a safe bastion for you and the Congress. What are some of the issues that you talk to people, while on a door-to-door campaign?
It is a safe seat, but difficult as well to meet up with the expectations of the people. They still hold Madhavsinhji, my father in high esteem and meeting up the expectations is indeed a difficult task.
In this mood of anti-Congress amongst people how difficult is it for you to campaign and reach out to new voters?
This time in Anand there is a strength of 1,36,000 voters and it is easy to talk to them because they have seen the work done by me and my party for the people of this constituency. The people also realise the difference between the loud claims and the realities.
What is the one important factor which you think will help this time?
The performance of the UPA government and my personal equation with the people of this constituency is an advantage for me and will definitely work in my favour and this time too people will vote for me and the Congress.
