Buyers latched on to the yellow metal on Dhanteras day, ahead of Deepavali, as prices fell marginally on Friday. According to traders in bullion market, gold prices fell by nearly Rs 110 to settle at Rs 30,590 per 10 grams.

“We have seen good sales throughout the day and had to start our shop early at 9 am due to unexpected demand on account of Dhanteras. Gold prices have appreciated over 15% as compared to last Dhanteras but that has not changed the desire of buyers to buy gold,” Kumar Jain, a South Mumbai-based jeweller said.

According to All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) chief G V Sreedhar, sales have been better on the ocassion of Dhanteras this year due to a correction in gold prices in the last two months.
