One of the biggest technology players Microsoft sees the world of IT converging into one single platform.

On Friday, Srikanth Karnakota, Country Head Microsoft India, at the SQLServerGeeks 2015 laid emphasis on how Microsoft’s SQL Server business in India is growing by leaps and bounds. Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft.

He said that  IT professionals and developers who represent the two major sides of the IT world are being brought together. “The advent of cloud is making this marriage possible,” he said.

On the sidelines of the event, Denny Cherry, Principal Consultant at DC&AC, a California-based consulting company told Deccan Herald,  “Hosting data on cloud rather than on premise is the major trend we see these days.”

“Shifting to cloud also resolves the problems of ‘breaking changes’,” he added. Breaking changes are problems that arise due to the lack of compatibility between the platforms when a user changes or upgrades storage technology.

“For about two-three years, the focus was on getting the data up there,” said Charles Gaddy of Melissa Data.
