Announcing the launch, Tata Motors President (Passenger Cars Division) Rajiv Dubey, said the company expects to sell up to 4,000 units of its new utlity vehicle Grande MK II a month.
The variants are top of the line Gx, Ex and Lx, which comes comes in three new colours – Walnut Gold, Platinum Beige and Castle Grey – with a seating capacity of 7-9 seats with improvements in drivability, ride, handling and comfort. Besides, the Grande MK II comes with a warranty of 2 years of 75,000 kms (which ever is earlier). Also, an additional 2 years’ warranty can be availed through the extended warranty option.
Dubey said the new version will replace the Grand MK I version of the Sumo. Currently, Tata Motors sells Sumo Victo Model also. To a query, he said Tata Motors has so far delivered 15,000 Nanos adding “the wait-list of Nanos will be over by 2010-end as per the delivery schedule.” The Grande MK II would be manufactured at the company’s Pimpri plant near Pune, he said, adding that the vehicle would have three variants—top of the line GX, EX and LX.The company plans to increase its market share in the UV to 20-21 per cent. “Presently, our share in the UV segment is 18 per cent and we are eyeing a market share of 20-21 per cent with this launch,” Dube said.
He also said that the company is feeling the heat in exports due to a slump in demand.”Exports have been down for us as there is contraction in demand. We hope to offset the losses by launching new vehicles,” Dube said.
