The first Prime Minister of Pakistan, Liaqat Ali Khan was a member of the state assembly of the United Provinces (now UP) under British rule. The Oxford-educated Khan, the scion of the Royal Family of Karnal won the election in 1937 from Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh.
