Another controversy surrounds Vijay-starrer "Mersal" that hit the screens on Diwali day, reports DHNS from Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP on Thursday demanded the removal of certain scenes in the movie, including those on demonetisation and GST.

The BJP also threatened that it would take legal action to remove such scenes from the film, which it claimed was "politically motivated".

In the movie, Vijay has questioned GST and said when only 8% GST was levied in Singapore, why is it 28% in India?

The actor also asks why liquor is not covered under GST.

While strongly objecting the dialogues, the BJP state president, Tamizhisai Soundararajan, said Vijay has made baseless allegations.

Tamizhisai said the actor is delivering such dialogues to enter politics.
