When Bollywood goes to Hollywood, there are always huge expectations from the audience in India. The same goes for xXx third edition xXx: Return of Xander Cage which stars Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone along with some of the biggest action actors like Vin Diesel, Thai action master Tony Jaa (of Ong Bak fame) and Chinese martial arts expert Donnie Yen (of Ip Man fame). What makes it even bigger is a villain in the plot who can ‘drop satellites’ anywhere he wants!
As expected, the film’s plot is simple and action stunts are crazily good. Xander Cage (Diesel) is back after a long self-imposed exile, recruited again by the CIA, to take on Xiang (Yen) to recover a ‘Pandora’s Box’ that can control military satellites. The daredevil operative quickly put up his own team to prevent a catastrophe.
Revealing Deepika’s (Serena Unger) on-screen relation with Diesel (Cage) would be a huge spoiler. We’ll not get into that. However, her character is perhaps the only one that comes with a background story. So, you can expect her to add some spiced-up moments in a heavily-sedated action scripting. The two stars share an excellent screen chemistry. While Diesel continues to show his fans that he’s still the man when it comes to action, Deepika on the other hand provides a charming relief to the film. However, Yen practically is a star that shines the brightest here — simply unbeatable.
xXx series as you are now aware is an action-cum-entertainer and nothing more. So, if you can turn off your logical senses, you will love everything about this edition which is truly an over-the-top action film packed with super stunts, superstars and super characters.
