The Bengaluru Police on Saturday detained nine people immediately after they landed at Kempegowda International Airport following their “highly suspicious”  attempt to visit Syria, the Islamic State stronghold. 

The detentions were made based on inputs provided by Turkish authorities, said the police. 

Of the nine detained, one had worked in the US for more than 10 years after completing a master's degree in Computer Science from Kennedy-Western University, California.
