After a stream of VIP visitors, including Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, BJP national president Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley visited Apollo Hospitals here on Wednesday and enquired about the health of ailing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

The BJP leader duo from Delhi, arrived here around 12.30 pm and visited Apollo hospital by about 2.10 pm. Though there is no confirmation about them meeting Jayalalithaa, Apollo Hospitals authorities explained to them her health condition and the line of treatment being followed.

"Visited Apollo hospital Chennai today. I wish J Jayalalithaa Ji, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, a speedy recovery," Jaitley  posted on his Facebook account.

In a similar post, Amit Shah said he wished and prayed for Jayalalithaa's speedy recovery. Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Road Transport Pon Radhakrishnan and Tamil Nadu BJP unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan accompanied Shah and Jaitley.

Though the hospital did not issue any fresh bulletin about Jayalalithaa's health, doctors said that a group of experts is constantly monitoring her condition.

Parties skeptical of allocation of portfolios
The Opposition leaders in Tamil Nadu, including DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Wednesday raised question whether the Governor had given the charge to the Finance Minister O Panneerselvam “based on the chief minister’s advice”, DHNS reports from Chennai. “With many political leaders, including AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were not given an opportunity to see Jayalalithaa in the hospital, it is surprising to note that the Raj Bhavan release saying that governor has allocated portfolios to Panneerselvam as per advice of the chief minister”, Karunanidhi said.
