Guru Syed Salauddin Pasha, an award-winning choreographer known for his work with the disabled, was arrested on Sunday afternoon after a teacher at his wife’s dance academy accused him of molesting her and sexually exploiting several students.

A senior police officer told Deccan Herald Pasha’s wife, herself a renowned Kathak dancer and choreographer, who runs the Aamad Kathak Dance Centre has also filed a separate complaint against him for domestic violence and demanding dowry.

Both cases have been filed at Madhu Vihar police station in east Delhi. However, Pasha has been arrested only for molestation and wrongful restraint as he would “first have to go for mediation” for the complaints related to marital discord with his wife.

Pasha had received the National Award for outstanding performances in the field of empowerment of persons with disabilities.

He also holds the World Record, certified by Guinness, for creating 100 dance theatre productions and 10,000 performances by persons with disabilities across the globe.
