The Opposition DMK in Tamil Nadu on Monday urged the Election Commission not to conduct by-polls to the high-profile R K Nagar Assembly seat until the names of fake voters were removed from the list.

DMK's Rajya Sabha member R S Bharathi submitted a detailed petition to Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni.

"After the perusal of the voter's list and field verification in RK Nagar Assembly constituency, we found various discrepancies such as double entries, multiple entries, non-deletion of shifted voters (who are not residing in the constituency) and non-deletion of deceased voters...," the plea stated.
