The grand old man of Indian politics and DMK president M Karunanidhi, who had underwent a tracheostomy process, was admitted to a hospital on Wednesday for a medical procedure.
 
Cauvery Hospital executive director S Aravindan said the DMK patriarch was admitted for change of PEG tube (Percutaneous Endoscopic gastronomy).
 
After the procedure was performed and a medical check up, the 94-year old Karunanidhi was discharged from the hospital.
 
The nonagenarian leader has been keeping ill-health since October last year and had never made a public appearance after after he underwent a tracheostomy procedure for breathing problems.
 
The former Tamil Nadu chief minister was first admitted to hospital in October last year for drug-induced allergy and was discharged later.
 
However, again re-admitted to the hospital on December 15 following breathing problems and underwent a tracheostomy procedure, before his discharge on December 23.
 
Since then Karunanidhi was undergoing medical treatment at his residence.
