Mother's love knows no bounds -- this adage seems to have inspired Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to take 'pride in' being given the sobriquet "Amma" (mother) by her partymen.

"I consider being called Amma as the biggest gift in my life full of struggles. Irrespective of their age, elders, youngsters and children address me as Amma and I take pride in this," she said in the state Assembly.

"Mother's love is selfless and I take pride in being addressed as Amma," she said, responding to felicitations by members on her government entering third year in office.

The 65-year old leader, who is also addressed as "Puratchi Thalaivi" (revolutionary leader) by her followers, said: My desire is to be a good mother and do my duty and Tamil Nadu people's welfare is my welfare."

Earlier, members of the Opposition barring DMDK and DMK appreciated Jayalalithaa for her various schemes implemented in the last two years.
