Anger erupted over inadequate supply of relief materials on Wednesday with flood-affected people staging protests here even as the situation improved in Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials told the protesters to approach the police for relief materials. When contacted, a police officer told Deccan Herald that they do not have relief materials for distribution.

In a related development, Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh said the Centre was sending adequate relief materials and it was the responsibility of the state government to distribute them properly. “It is the duty of the state to streamline the distribution process,” he added.

The state government has asked its revenue officials to start assessing the damages. The government also announced that Haj flights, which were suspended from September 5, will resume on Saturday.
