Governor Vajubhai Vala, who is also the chancellor of the universities in the State, has appointed Dr S S Hugar as the acting vice chancellor for Karnatak University.
The appointment was made in view of the incumbent VC, Dr H B Walikar in connection with a case pertaining to alleged irregularities. Dr Hugar is the Dean of Commerce Department. Prof J S Bhat has been appointed Registrar (Evaluation) in place of Dr H T Pote and Prof R L Hyderabad has been appointed as Finance Officer in the place of S Rajashri. Both Dr Pote and S Rajashri have also been arrested.
