The BJP is gearing up to organise a series of caste-based rallies across the state as part of its preparation for the coming elections even as the party's Parivarthana Yatra enters its last leg.

The B S Yeddyurappa-led Navakarnataka Nirmana Parivarthana Yatra is scheduled to conclude on January 25 in Mysuru. To begin with, the party will organise a rally in Bengaluru, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate, on February 4. An estimated five lakh people are expected to take part in what is planned as a show-of-strength to be held at the sprawling Palace Grounds.

This will be followed by rallies across the state. Separate rallies will be organised targetting various castes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes. Besides, there will be separate rallies for women, youth and farmers. National leaders of the party and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will be addressing these rallies, the party sources said.

This apart, the party has planned to hold issue-based yatras at the local level. For instance, party MLAs in Bengaluru have been asked to organise a yatra on issues related to the crumbling infrastructure in the city, the sources said.
