Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday flagged off 100 new highway patrol vehicles.
The government had earlier promised to provide 300 vehicles for patrolling.

Siddaramaiah said the new vehicles will be deployed for every 40 km on national and state highways. They will enhance safety and security, he said.

He said each vehicle will have an ASI, a head constable, a constable and a driver. The vehicles will be under the jurisdiction of the superintendent of police of the respective
districts, he added.

Home Minister G Parameshwara, adviser Kempaiah, DG&IGP Om Prakash and senior police officials were present.
