Two students from Greenwood High International School have scored 45 out of 45 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examinations.

Guru Sarjith Senthil and Pavan Kumar Chitta both scored the perfect grade-points in the exams which were conducted in May.

Guru had taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the higher level and Economics, English and Spanish at the standard level.

“I want to become a computer science engineer because it involves two things I love: problem-solving and challenges,” Guru said.

He has already received a conditional offer from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Guru said he did have to spend a lot of time on academics but he was also active in extra-curricular activities, hosting and taking part in hackathons.

Pavan and Guru had both previously topped the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination, which is equivalent to class X. In 2015, Pavan had secured the first place in the country for any student with eight IGCSE subjects and Guru had been declared top in the country in Computer Science.

Another student from the school, Suchita Eshana Kumar, scored 44 out of 45 points in the IBDP.

“This year’s results are one of the best in the history of our school and I laud the efforts put in by the staff and students for this achievement,” said Aloysius D'Mello, principal of Greenwood High.
