A dance production ‘Saalabhanjika’ will be staged by Nrityangana Institute of Performing Arts, on January 13, 6.30 pm at Seva Sadan, 14th cross, Malleswaram.
The story of ‘Saalabhanjika’ revolves around a sculpture telling a ‘devadasi’, the story of how she turned from a stone into a captivating ‘Saalabhanjika’. A poetic inspiration coupled with an epic fragrance precipitates into the lyrical beauty of Mohiniyattam.The concept, lyrics and direction are by Dr C P Unnikrishnan Menon, a Kathakali artiste. The music composition and live vocals are by Kottakal Madhu and the choreography and production are by Swapna Rajendrakumar.
