The Higher Education department has stalled the process initiated by University of Mysore vice chancellor (VC) K S Rangappa to appoint principals to four constituent colleges. The interview had been scheduled for November 23 and Rangappa is due for retirement on January 13, 2017.

A letter from the department states that it has been directed earlier that the VC should not take any major administrative decision during the last six months of his term. Hence, the initiative to appoint the principals of Maharaja’s College, Yuvaraja’s College, UoM Evening College and UoM Fine Arts College would be violation of law.

Rangappa said, he is yet to see the letter, but he has learnt about its contents from his office staff.
