The Bangalore Club has dropped the inquiry initiated against its member and senior IPS officer R P Sharma, whose car driver was allegedly involved in a tiff with the club's security guard on November 5.

At a meeting held on Wednesday at the club, it was decided to close the inquiry. “We have dropped the inquiry initiated against the officer in order to restore harmony. We have closed the inquiry against the officer,” Bangalore Club President V Jayashankar said. The club sources said all relevant documents have been submitted to the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner for the restoration of the excise licence. “We expect the clearance very soon,” Jayashankar said.

On November 5, Sharma, ADGP (Railways), and his car driver were allegedly involved in a scuffle with the security guard at the club entrance. Taking serious note of the incident, the club had suspended his civil service membership for a month on November 17.
