Bear mauls National Park guard

Mastaiah, 23, the guard on contract with the Bannerghatta National Park was attacked by a wild bear on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on the outskirts of Hakki-Pikki Colony, Kaggalipura Road,  bordering Bannerghatta National Park. Mastaiah, along with Shivamadu, was attending to nature’s call near the trenches of the park when the bear attacked him.

Shivamadu scared away the bear pelting stones at it. Mastaiah was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and from there to Victoria Hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
