It has been more than two months since the ‘Hire A Bicycle’ facility was introduced at Namma Metro stations along the Reach 1 (Between MG Road to Baiyyappanahalli). However, the registration of users is yet to gain momentum.
The Chairman of Kerberon Automations, Syed Haseeb Arfat, the man behind Automated Tracking and Control of Green Assets (ATCAG), which has tied up with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for providing bicycle hiring facility, said they had only 35 registered users till date.
“We have introduced the facility at all Namma Metro stations along Reach-1, except at the Indiranagar station where we are waiting for power network. The registration is expected to pick up as we are upgrading our facilities at three more junctions along MG Road — near Public Utility Building, Anil Kumble Circle and at the Brigade Road-Residency Road junction.
This will be done within a span of two weeks and a total of nine centres will offer the facility for bicycle lovers,” he added.
Another member of the Kerberon Automations said the delay in opening online registrations had held up number of people coming forward to hire bicycles. “We will complete the related procedures and open the online registration by January-end,” he added.
Another member of Kerberon Automations said a total of 70 bicycles and 120 parking slots will be available for the users once the service begins in all locations.
