A 32-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot when a Tempo Traveller ran him over on the elevated Electronics City expressway on Wednesday.

The accident occurred when the victim lost control of his scooter and crashed it into a parked car. A speeding Tempo Traveller coming from behind, ran him over, killing him instantly.

The deceased, Tejaswi Ponnapalli, was a software engineer with Hewlett Packard (HP). He was a resident of Gangothri Layout in BTM Layout and was on his way to work, the police said.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 3.45 pm when Ponnapalli was speeding towards his office on his scooter. A car (Maruti Wagon R) was parked on the side of the flyover and its driver was signalling to motorists to avoid the car. The car was parked on the stretch at Konappana Agrahara near PES College. Ponnapalli failed to notice the car, crashed into it and fell on the road and was run over. Police arrested the drivers of the car and the Tempo Traveller.

This is the second such accident since December 29, when a software engineer riding a two-wheeler died after he crashed into a parked car and fell down, only to be run over by another car following him.
