Residency Road and a few adjoining roads witnessed traffic jams and slow movement of vehicles late afternoon on Monday.

Scores of vehicles were stranded on Vittal Mallya Road, Residency Road, Siddalingaiah Circle, Kasturba Road, Hudson Circle and Nrupatunga Road.

There were jams on the surrounding roads like MG Road, Brigade Road and Kamaraj Road. The traffic police deployed additional force and regulated the vehicular movement, said the police.

The situation on Residency Road went out of control around 2.30 pm after a BMTC Volvo bus stopped right in the middle of the road opposite Bishop Cotton Boys’ School due to a technical snag. ‘

With the bus stopping minutes before the closing hours of a few schools in the locality, the vehicles could rarely move for about one hour, added the police.

The dug-up roadsides for the ongoing TenderSURE project on Residency Road added to the chaos.

The incident occurred at a major junction and hence, vehicles were permitted to enter the no-entry zone for some time to control the situation. The incident had its impact on all surrounding roads. However, normalcy was restored around 4 pm, added the police.
