BMTC nets Rs 10.90 lakh in penalty

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation officials, who checked 18,428 trips in September, penalised 6,417 ticketless passengers and collected a penalty of Rs 10,90,600.

Besides, 2,523 cases were booked against conductors for dereliction of duty, a press release stated. In addition, Rs 42,400 was collected as fine from 424 male passengers who were occupying seats meant for women.
