Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday promised to allot Rs 300 crore for the construction of a flyover at the Silk Board Junction, considered to be one of the worst traffic bottlenecks in the city.

Siddaramaiah made the announcement soon after inspecting the city’s preparedness for the ensuing monsoon season and other development works. The inspection lasted for about three and a half hours.

“I have directed the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to provide Rs 200 cr and Rs 100 crore, respectively, towards the project. It has been proposed to ease out increased vehicular traffic on the stretch,” the chief minister said.

On the proposal to construct another flyover at KR Puram, Siddaramaiah said the state government would bear the required cost of Rs 650 crore for the project. He also said tender has been floated for an elevated road project between Chalukya circle and Hebbal.
