A 44-year-old man died in a freak accident while crossing Kengal Hanumanthaiah Road (Double Road) on Sunday afternoon. The victim, identified as Gopal Rao, fell down after tripping on a cable dangling on the median and was knocked down by a car, onlookers claimed. However, the police say the victim fell down and suffered a head injury after a car’s mirror brushed against him at around 2 pm.

The Wilson Garden traffic police arrested Gayathri, who was driving the car. Rao was a resident of 4th Cross, K H Road.

Rao sustained injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later. Wilson Garden traffic police rushed to the spot and registered a case of accidental death due to rash and negligent driving. The police seized the woman’s car.
