The City will soon have a dedicated dialysis centre for women.
The All Women Dialysis Centre (AWDC) set up by the Rangadore Memorial Hospital will focus on providing solutions to kidney problems of women from economically weaker sections at an affordable cost.
The hospital in Shankarpuram near Basavangudi, has been set up in association with the Bangalore Kidney Foundation and Inner Wheel Club of Bengaluru to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Year of Inner Wheel Club of Bengaluru, which was started in 1966.
Dr Sriram P, director, Bangalore Kidney Foundation said, “Women have a natural survival advantage over men but unfortunately the figures for women undergoing dialysis is low. This initiative to set up a dialysis care unit exclusively for women is an attempt to help women leave their inhibition and come for treatment knowing fully well an all-women team is there to address their concern.”
While the Bangalore Kidney Foundation will offer its technical assistance, the Inner Wheel Club of Bangalore will provide 10 dialysis machines and a corpus for managing the recurring costs in maintaining AWDC to Bangalore Kidney Foundation.
The Bangalore Kidney Foundation will extend its ‘One Free Dialysis A Day Programme’ to AWDC and also provide free and subsidised dialysis to poor patients.
