Addressing freedom fighters and their family members at Raj Bhavan where a function was organised to felicitate them, Bhardwaj said, “Our communication with the freedom fighters should not break. Your contribution to the nation is so huge that we couldn’t be able to pay you in return. All we can do is, salute you. Your presence is beneficial to us. We need your guidance.”

Aware of problems

The Governor said he knows the problems faced by the freedom fighters and being the head of the Government he would ensure that they never feel neglected.

He asked the Freedom Fighters’ Association to give him a list of their members so that could remain in touch with them and ensure that their dignity is never violated.
Bhardwaj said he would conduct a preliminary meeting on the proposed  national-level gathering of freedom fighters at Davangere by the end of the year.

Association President S V D Gupta said freedom fighters required medical assistance, a
house, financial assistance, reservation in government buses and trains and reservation for the descendants of freedom fighters in vocational courses.

Ministers Suresh Kumar, Shobha Karandlaje, Govind Karjol, S A Ravindranath, Jagadish Shettar, MLA Hemachandra Sagar and Legislative Council chairman D H Shankaramurthy were present.
