The founder and managing  director of Attica Gold Company and his son have been booked for wrongfully restraining and assaulting one of their employees at their Queen's Road office.

Bommanahalli Babu, his son Ubed, bouncers Balasubramanya and Kishore are accused of holding up Praveen Kumar (33) and beating him up.

In his complaint to the Vidhana Soudha police, Kumar, a systems engineer with Attica for a year and a half, said he had not been receiving his salary for the past three months.  When he raised the issue with his chief, he was asked to meet the founder at the company's head office on Queen's Road.

When Kumar went to meet Babu on November 13, the founder accused him of stealing secret information of the company and forced him to accept responsibility for it.

Kumar was later dragged to the building's fourth-floor balcony where he was beaten up by the four men until he fell unconscious. When he regained consciousness, the four hurled abuse and warned him to remain silent about the incident.

The next day, Kumar received treatment for his injuries at KC General Hospital as an outpatient. Fearing reprisal, he and his family refrained from notifying the police of  the incident, the systems engineer had noted in his complaint.

On December 6, however, when the Vidhana Soudha police quizzed him about his job with Attica and if he was involved in some misdemeanour, Kumar learnt that the repair register had been tampered with and fake entries had been made to show that he had shared company secrets.

He then lodged the complaint stating that he was not the offender but a victim of the assault by the company's founder and his henchmen. The Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case.
