A few budding poets from the city came together to recite for change as part of an event on Saturday.

As part of the ‘100 Thousand Poets for Change’, 19- to 50-year-olds shared their views on social issues through the medium of poetry. ‘100 Thousand Poets for Change’ is an international organisation that brings together poets from various backgrounds to share their views on social change.

“This time, we had 20 poets reciting poems highlighting various social issues ranging from feminism, religion, gender disparity among a host of others,” said Samantak Bhadra, who hosted the event at Atta Galatta. Padmavati Rao, an actor and theatre person, was a guest performer at the event.

The participants were from diverse backgrounds and included students, IT professionals, artists, actors and dancers.

The participants were chosen after a tough screening of their works by a jury. “This is an annual event at Atta Galatta and this is the sixth year of its existence.” said Bhadra, a corporate professional and a poet by passion.
