Playing peacemaker between two quarreling strangers proved costly for a security guard at an ATM kiosk.
Police said Ayyanna, a security guard at the HDFC Bank ATM at Kammagondanahalli, had seen two men quarreling with each other after midnight in Gangammanagudi police limits recently.
The men were reportedly under the influence of alcohol. When Ayyanna intervened and advised them to stop fighting, the duo snatched his stick, thrashed him and absconded.
Some passersby noticed him lying injured on the road and rushed him to a hospital. Ayyanna is said to be out of danger.
Police said they were on the lookout for the unidentified attackers.
