Historian Ramachandra Guha has come out in support of separate flag for every state.

“I think every state should have its own flag. People can be good citizens of Basavanagudi, Bangalore, Karnataka and India,” he said replying to a question at an interaction during the release of the 10th anniversary edition of his book, “India After Gandhi,”in the city on Friday.

Guha, who answered questions on various issues, said regional politics was better than national politics. “It dilutes the Kashmir issue too.”

Referring to the humour in his book, Guha said: “Jawaharlal Nehru did not have the imagination of Modi to have a World Yoga Day. He did not do yoga on Rajpath, but being a yoga enthusiast, he could stand on his head. Can Modi do that?”

He reiterated that to be an Indian, one need not be a Hindu, does not have to speak Hindi or hate Pakistan.
