The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday  directed the Bengaluru police commissioner  to form a special investigation team of senior officers  to trace Kumar Ajitabh, the 29-year-old software engineer who has been missing for almost a month now.

Justice A S Bopanna passed the orders on a petition  filed by Ajitabh's father,  Ashok Kumar Sinha, who has demanded a CBI probe into the case. The judge directed the police to submit a progress report by  January 22. He observed that police had not been able to make any significant progress in the case and criticised the way the investigation had been carried out.

Ajitabh went missing on December 18, 2017, when he left home to meet a prospective buyer who had responded to his advertisement on OLX, an online marketplace. Ajitabh had put his car up for sale.
